From Germany to Ireland: The Desi Corner Shop’s Journey with ILI
Every business has a story, and for The Desi Corner Shop, ours has been a journey of passion, community and connection.
The journey began in Germany in 2018, with a vision to bring beautiful and authentic Desi accessories closer to the Desi community abroad.Growing up with the best of Phulkari, Muradabadi brassware, Kanpuri leather and other artisinal marvels, I wanted to replicate the same magic as my father in the accessories arena.
In 2019, I moved to Ireland and continued that journey here, offering jewellery, shoes, clutch bags and those special little bits and pieces that add elegance and colour to celebrations.
Since then, we have had the privilege of being part of 200+ events across Ireland — from weddings to cultural festivities and gatherings. We have also delivered 20,000+ parcels, with products sourced from our manufacturing units across India, including Punjab, Bengal, Delhi, Gujarat, Bangalore and Kolkata.
A major part of this journey has been Indian Ladies in Ireland (ILI).
ILI has been a remarkable pillar of strength that helped The Desi Corner Shop establish itself within the local community. Through ILI, we have had wonderful opportunities to
connect with people, gain recognition, support community initiatives and be part of countless memorable occasions.
From ILI’s Teej event, to getting to work with the Indian High Commission.From being the official Gifting sponsers of Spic Macay events to becoming a part of various community fests such as Vaisakhi Mela, Bathukamma, Azadi Melas, Durga Pujo etc., it has always been a pleasure to contribute, support and celebrate alongside the community.
