Since 2017, Indian Ladies in Ireland has brought women together through cultural celebrations, community gatherings, women’s empowerment programmes, charitable initiatives, awareness campaigns and civic engagement.
Our events are about more than celebrating an occasion. They create friendships, give women a platform to share their talents and achievements, support women-led businesses, preserve our cultural heritage and strengthen connections between Indian and Irish communities.

2026
A Special Milestone: Indian Ladies in Ireland Launches New Community Platform
25 August 2026 marked a very special milestone in the journey of Indian Ladies in Ireland (ILI), as we officially launched our new community platform, indianladiesireland.ie, at the Embassy of India in Dublin.
Founded in 2017 by Cllr Supriya Singh, Indian Ladies in Ireland began with a simple idea: to create a welcoming space where Indian women living in Ireland could connect, build friendships, share experiences and support one another.
Over the years, that community has grown to connect more than 6,000 women across Ireland, and the launch of our new website represents the next chapter in that journey.
A Celebration of India–Ireland Connections
We were deeply grateful to the Embassy of India in Ireland, H.E. Ambassador Manish Gupta and Mrs Nimeesha Gupta for hosting this special occasion and warmly welcoming the ILI community to the Embassy.
It was a particular honour to have H.E. Manish Gupta, Ambassador of India to Ireland, and H.E. Kevin Kelly, Ambassador of Ireland to India, come together to officially launch the new platform — a wonderful reflection of the growing friendship and connections between India and Ireland.
We were also delighted to be joined by Minister of State Emer Higgins T.D. and MEP and former Tánaiste Frances Fitzgerald, both of whom have supported and encouraged Indian Ladies in Ireland and our community over the years.
The celebration was made even more special by the presence of Dr Reita Faria, the first Indian and first Asian woman to win the Miss World title, and acclaimed author Cauvery Madhavan.
The new ILI platform has been created as a space for connection, information, opportunity and belonging.
It brings together practical resources for women who are new to Ireland, information on careers and employment, safety and wellbeing, community stories, cultural initiatives and opportunities for members to share their own experiences, knowledge and talents.
At the heart of the platform is the same principle that inspired ILI in 2017: women should have a space where they can find friendship, information and support while building their lives in Ireland and remaining connected to their heritage.
The platform will continue to grow with our community, and we hope it becomes a place where women not only find useful information but also share their voices, experiences and journeys with others.
The launch was also a celebration of the many people who have contributed to the ILI journey over the years.
A beautiful Bharatanatyam performance by Jyoti Goswami Aravindhan brought a wonderful cultural dimension to the occasion, while Poojan Mahajan warmly hosted the programme.
Above all, our heartfelt thanks go to the Indian Ladies in Ireland team, our members, volunteers, supporters and friends who have contributed their time, ideas and encouragement throughout this journey.
What began as a small effort to bring women together has grown because thousands of women chose to connect, participate, support one another and make ILI their own.
As we begin this new chapter, we look forward to continuing to strengthen our community, celebrate our Indian heritage, encourage greater participation in Irish society and build meaningful connections between India and Ireland.
This is not simply the launch of a website — it is another step in a journey of community, friendship and belonging that began in 2017 and continues to grow.

St Patrick’s Festival City-Wide Programme

Indian Ladies in Ireland was proud to participate in the St Patrick’s Festival City-Wide Programme 2026, bringing the colour, music and dance traditions of India to St Stephen’s Green in the heart of Dublin.
ILI members performed for audiences from Ireland and around the world as part of one of Ireland’s most recognised cultural celebrations.
The programme featured performances by Aatmi School of Dance, Sree Parvathi & Group, Pooja Singh & Group, along with a solo performance by Satakshi Kaushik.
For our community, taking part in St Patrick’s Festival had a special meaning. It was an opportunity to proudly celebrate our Indian heritage while participating in the cultural life of the country we call home.
It represents the kind of integration ILI believes in — celebrating where we come from while building a shared future in Ireland.

Galentine’s Celebration & Women’s Networking Meet-Up

Indian Ladies in Ireland brought women together for a special Galentine’s celebration and networking meet-up, celebrating friendship, connection and the inspiring journeys of Indian women entrepreneurs in Ireland.
The gathering created a welcoming space for women to meet, build new connections, exchange experiences and hear the stories behind women-led businesses within our community. From starting something new to overcoming challenges and turning ideas into growing businesses, the conversations reflected the courage, creativity and determination of women across the ILI network.
Alongside networking and conversations, the afternoon was filled with laughter, games and plenty of opportunities to connect. Women entrepreneurs also had the opportunity to introduce their businesses, share what they do and support one another through referrals and community connections.
A special thank you to the businesses that generously sponsored gifts for our game winners and helped make the celebration even more memorable.
For ILI, gatherings like this are about more than networking. They are about creating spaces where women can connect, collaborate, support each other’s ambitions and grow together.

Each woman brought a different story — of building a career, starting a business, stepping into leadership, supporting a community, overcoming challenges or finding a new direction after moving countries.

Diwali at the Mansion House – A Historic Celebration for Dublin

Indian Ladies in Ireland was delighted to be part of a very special Diwali celebration at Dublin’s historic Mansion House, marking an important moment of recognition and inclusion for the Indian community in Ireland.
“The celebration followed an initiative by Cllr Supriya Singh, who worked with the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Cllr Ray McAdam, to advocate for Diwali to be recognised and celebrated as part of Dublin’s civic calendar.
Members of Indian Ladies in Ireland were honoured to attend the celebration and to see Indian culture and traditions represented in one of Dublin’s most historic civic settings.
For ILI, the occasion reflected something at the heart of our work since 2017 — celebrating our heritage while building belonging and strengthening connections between communities in Ireland.
From a festival traditionally celebrated in homes and communities to being celebrated in the heart of Dublin’s civic life, the occasion represented a meaningful milestone for Dublin’s growing Indian community.

Intercultural Women’s Network – 10th Anniversary Celebration

Indian Ladies in Ireland was delighted to be represented at the 10th anniversary celebration of the Intercultural Women’s Network (IWN) at Dublin’s historic Mansion House.
The evening brought together women and community representatives from diverse backgrounds to celebrate a decade of intercultural connection, inclusion and women supporting women in Ireland.
ILI representatives had the opportunity to share the journey and work of our community and to highlight the contribution and achievements of Indian women in Ireland.
The celebration was also a wonderful opportunity to strengthen connections with other intercultural organisations and recognise the importance of collaboration in creating communities where women from every background can participate, contribute and feel a sense of belonging.

ISPCC Positive Parenting Webinar for Indian Ladies in Ireland — 2023
Supporting Parents. Understanding Positive Parenting in Ireland.
Responding to questions and concerns raised by members of our community, Indian Ladies in Ireland organised a dedicated Positive Parenting Webinar with the ISPCC in 2023. Indian Ladies in Ireland events also respond to the practical needs of our members, including parenting, wellbeing and community support.
For many parents raising children in a new country, navigating a different social, cultural and family environment can bring questions about parenting approaches, boundaries, discipline, communication and the supports available to families.
Recognising this need, we invited the ISPCC, Ireland’s national child protection charity, to deliver a specially focused session for parents within the Indian Ladies in Ireland community.
The ISPCC session covered positive parenting in an Irish context, including communication with children, healthy boundaries, children’s emotional wellbeing and information about services and supports available to families in Ireland.
It was a particularly valuable initiative for parents who had moved to Ireland and were adapting their parenting to a new cultural and social environment. Members were also able to ask questions directly and receive guidance from experienced professionals.
The session reflected an important part of the work of Indian Ladies in Ireland: listening to the needs of our members and connecting our community with trusted organisations and practical information that can make a meaningful difference to family life.

Visit to Leinster House – Connecting with Irish Civic Life

Members of Indian Ladies in Ireland had the opportunity to visit Leinster House, home of the Irish Parliament, for a special tour organised by ILI Founder Supriya Singh, with the support of Richard Bruton TD.
For many members, walking through the historic halls of Leinster House and learning more about Ireland’s parliamentary and democratic institutions was a memorable experience.
The visit reflected an important part of ILI’s wider mission — helping Indian women build connections with the country they now call home while continuing to celebrate their Indian heritage.
It was also an opportunity to strengthen engagement between the Indian community and Irish civic life and to encourage greater awareness, participation and inclusion.

International Charity Bazaar Dublin – Supporting a Charitable Initiative

Indian Ladies in Ireland was delighted to support the International Charity Bazaar Dublin, an initiative bringing together international communities, diplomatic representatives and Ambassadors’ spouses to celebrate cultures from around the world while raising support for charitable causes.
Working alongside the Embassy of India in Dublin and the Ambassador’s spouse, Mrs Reeti Mishra, ILI members contributed to representing India and sharing the richness of Indian culture as part of this international gathering.
The event provided a wonderful opportunity to combine culture with community service — connecting people from different countries while contributing to a wider charitable initiative.

Holi in North Dublin – Festival of Colours

In March 2023, Indian Ladies in Ireland hosted its first Holi celebration in North Dublin, bringing families, friends and the wider community together to celebrate the Festival of Colours.
The celebration featured Indian dance, Bollywood music, Indian food and opportunities for women entrepreneurs to showcase and promote their businesses.
Holi celebrates colour, togetherness and new beginnings. Bringing the festival to North Dublin gave our members an opportunity to celebrate traditions that connect them with India while inviting the wider community to experience those traditions alongside us.
It was also an opportunity to give women-led businesses greater visibility and connect entrepreneurs directly with the community.

Teej & International Friendship Day – Multicultural Celebration

As part of the celebrations marking 75 years of India’s Independence – Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Indian Ladies in Ireland organised a multicultural celebration bringing together Teej and International Friendship Day.
The event brought different communities together under one roof to celebrate friendship, diversity and the rich cultural heritage of India.
The day featured Indian and international music and dance performances, the Saga of Sarees showcase, community stalls and women-led businesses, creating opportunities for cultural exchange, community connection and entrepreneurship.
The event reflected ILI’s continuing commitment to celebrating Indian heritage while building friendships and stronger connections across Ireland’s diverse communities.
Teej is a festival rich in tradition, colour and celebration. Bringing it together with International Friendship Day reflected something particularly important to ILI — the friendships and support networks women build while creating a life away from the country in which they grew up.
The celebration provided an opportunity to enjoy Indian traditions, make new connections and strengthen friendships across communities.
For many women living away from India, festivals provide an important connection to home. Through ILI, they also become an opportunity to create new memories and traditions here in Ireland.

Saga of Sarees – Celebrating Unity in Diversity

Indian Ladies in Ireland celebrated the extraordinary cultural diversity of India through the Saga of Sarees, held as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
Women showcased sarees representing 15 Indian states, accompanied by cultural performances celebrating different traditions and identities from across India.
From different fabrics and draping styles to the traditions associated with them, the event demonstrated how one garment can tell many stories about India’s rich cultural heritage.
At its heart, the celebration represented unity in diversity — celebrating the many identities and traditions that make up India while sharing that heritage here in Ireland.

Food Drive for People Experiencing Homelessness

Indian Ladies in Ireland organised a charity drive in Dublin city centre to provide food to people experiencing homelessness, with the support of Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar.
ILI members and their families volunteered their time to help distribute food, while many others supported the initiative through donations to the fundraising campaign.
The initiative demonstrated the generosity of our community and a belief that has been part of ILI from the beginning: when people come together, even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.

The Beginning of an Annual ILI Tradition

In 2022, Indian Ladies in Ireland launched what would become our annual International Women’s Day Digital Series.
The initiative was created to give women a platform to share their experiences, achievements and journeys with others.
Rather than focusing only on titles or professional success, the series celebrates the real stories behind women’s journeys — their aspirations, challenges, resilience and the different paths they have taken while building their lives.
Since then, the initiative has become an annual ILI tradition, returning each International Women’s Day to amplify women’s voices and inspire others across the community.

2021
Staying Connected Through Changing Times
As our community continued to grow, members increasingly needed a quick and accessible way to ask questions, share information and seek support.
In response, Indian Ladies in Ireland established two dedicated WhatsApp groups, giving members a space to connect with one another, exchange practical information, share experiences and seek peer support around everyday questions and concerns.
The groups strengthened connections within the community and helped women access practical information, peer support and a sense of belonging when they needed it.
2020
Community Through a Challenging Year
Staying Connected When We Couldn’t Meet
The COVID-19 pandemic changed how communities could meet, connect and support one another. For Indian Ladies in Ireland, 2020 became a year of adapting to a very different way of community life.
Although our usual opportunities to meet in person were limited, the need for connection remained. For many women — particularly those living away from their extended families and support networks — staying connected with the community became even more important.
Supporting One Another From a Distance
Throughout the year, our online community provided a space where women could remain connected, exchange information, ask questions and support one another during an uncertain period.
Members used the group to share useful information, seek recommendations, stay connected with other women and help one another navigate everyday challenges during the pandemic.
What had originally been created as a space for friendship and community became an increasingly important support network for Indian women living in Ireland.
A Community Beyond Events
2020 reminded us that community is not only about organising large events or celebrations. Sometimes it is simply about being available when someone needs information, reassurance, a recommendation or another person to speak to.
The year strengthened the sense of belonging within Indian Ladies in Ireland and reinforced the importance of having a trusted community where women could reach out and support one another.
Adapting and Moving Forward
Like communities across Ireland, we learned to adapt to changing circumstances. Digital communication became an even more important part of how we connected, shared information and maintained relationships.
The experience of 2020 also helped shape the way Indian Ladies in Ireland would grow in the years that followed — combining cultural celebrations and in-person activities with information sharing, online engagement and practical community support.
2019
Growing Our Community
As Indian Ladies in Ireland continued to grow, so did the opportunities for women to connect, celebrate and support one another.
What had begun as a way of bringing Indian women together was gradually developing into a stronger community network — creating friendships, encouraging participation and providing women with a space where they could feel connected while building their lives in Ireland.
Building a Stronger Community
During 2019, our focus continued to be on creating opportunities for women to meet, form friendships and become more involved in the community.
For women who had recently moved to Ireland, particularly those living away from family and familiar support networks, these connections could make an important difference. Members exchanged experiences, recommendations and practical information while also finding friendship and a sense of belonging.
From a Group to a Growing Organisation
As participation increased, Indian Ladies in Ireland also began developing a more structured approach to how the community was organised.
Celebrating Culture, Creating Connections
Cultural connection remained at the heart of the community. Our gatherings gave women an opportunity not only to celebrate Indian traditions and festivals, but also to share those traditions with their families and build friendships across the community.
These occasions became spaces for women from different parts of India, different professions and different stages of life to come together around a shared sense of community.
Women Supporting Women
One of the strongest aspects of Indian Ladies in Ireland was the willingness of members to support one another.
Women shared knowledge, encouraged each other’s talents and businesses, exchanged useful information and welcomed newcomers into the community. This culture of mutual support became an important part of the identity of ILI and continues to shape our work today.
Laying the Foundations for the Future
By the end of 2019, Indian Ladies in Ireland was becoming much more than a social group. The relationships, volunteer involvement and community participation developed during these early years helped establish the foundations for the programmes, community initiatives, cultural activities and civic engagement that followed.
2018
Building on Our Beginnings
Following the establishment of Indian Ladies in Ireland in 2017, the community continued to grow as more women connected with one another and became part of the network.
As the group developed, our focus also expanded beyond bringing women together. We began using the platform to recognise women’s achievements, encourage entrepreneurship and create opportunities for members to learn from and inspire one another.
Supporting Women Entrepreneurs
One of our early initiatives was to introduce and highlight women entrepreneurs from within the Indian Ladies in Ireland community.
The platform gave members an opportunity to share their entrepreneurial journeys, introduce their businesses and talents, and connect with other women in the community.
At a time when many women were establishing themselves in a new country, we wanted ILI to be a space where women could not only find friendship and belonging, but could also encourage one another to pursue their ambitions and grow with confidence.
Inspiring Women Through Shared Experiences
In 2018, we were delighted to welcome Shivangi Jangra Maletia, who joined Indian Ladies in Ireland to share an inspiring and positive message with our members.
Through her motivational talk, she encouraged women to believe in themselves, recognise their strengths and approach their personal journeys with confidence and positivity.
This was also the beginning of her continued association with Indian Ladies in Ireland. Shivangi went on to support the community on several occasions, contributing inspirational talks at a number of our events and continuing to encourage and motivate our members.
Her involvement reflected an important part of the ILI ethos from its early years — women using their experiences, achievements and voices to inspire and uplift other women.
Creating a Platform for Women to Shine
From our early years, Indian Ladies in Ireland has sought to create a platform where women are not simply members of a group, but active participants in building the community.
Whether through entrepreneurship, professional achievements, creativity, cultural participation or personal stories, we wanted women to have a space to be seen, heard and encouraged.
These early initiatives helped shape the community-focused and women-led platform that Indian Ladies in Ireland would continue to develop in the years ahead.
2017

Indian Ladies in Ireland began in 2017 with a simple idea: to create the kind of support network many of us wished had existed when we first arrived in Ireland.
What began as an online space quickly became a real community.
Within weeks, hundreds of women had connected online, followed by an early in-person gathering where around 50 women came together.
Women met, talked, shared experiences and formed friendships.
That first gathering represented the beginning of something much bigger — a community where women could ask questions, exchange information, support one another and feel a little more at home.
From those early connections grew the Indian Ladies in Ireland community we know today.

Indian Independence Day Bollywood Flash Mob – Grafton Street

Just months after Indian Ladies in Ireland was established, members came together for one of our first major public celebrations — a Bollywood flash mob on Grafton Street to mark Indian Independence Day.
Indian music and dance filled one of Dublin’s most iconic streets as women came together to proudly celebrate their heritage and share Indian culture with people in the heart of the city.
The event became an important early milestone in the ILI journey and received media attention in India.
For a community that had only recently begun, it represented confidence, connection and visibility.
It also captured something that would become central to the identity of Indian Ladies in Ireland:
remaining connected to our Indian heritage while becoming an active part of Irish community life.

Supporting Children with Special Needs

One of Indian Ladies in Ireland’s earliest charitable initiatives was supporting children with special needs and their families.
Through the generosity of ILI members, the community raised funds to provide sensory toys and equipment worth €333 to Blossom Ireland for its 2017 summer camps.
ILI members were also delighted to attend a special event where the children celebrated their graduation day and to see first-hand the difference community support could make.
For a newly established community group, this was an important early milestone and helped establish a tradition of giving back to the wider community in Ireland that ILI has continued over the years.

A Journey That Continues
From around 50 women coming together at an early meet-up in 2017 to a community that now connects thousands of Indian women, the ILI journey has been shaped by the women who have participated, volunteered, performed, shared their stories, supported one another and helped build the organisation.
Our events have changed and grown over the years, but their purpose remains the same:
to connect women, celebrate culture, create opportunities, support our community and strengthen the bonds between India and Ireland.
And our journey is still growing.
